BAR

The term 'Tapas' is derived from the Spanish verb 'Tapar' which means 'to cover'.

Historically bartenders would serve small snacks of bread or meat, with a drink, which patrons could use to cover their glasses between sips to keep out the fruit flies.

This tradition has evolved into entire tapas menus being served in restaurants as a meal rather than a snack.
